Intrinsic parameter calibration procedure for a (high-distortion) fish-eye lens camera with distortion model and accuracy estimation

چکیده
-This paper presents a calibration procedure for a fish-eye lens (a high-distortion lens) mounted on a CCD TV camera. The method is designed to account for the differences in images acquired via a distortion-free lens camera setup and the images obtained by a fish-eye lens camera. The calibration procedure essentially defines a mapping between points in the world coordinate system and their corresponding point locations in the image plane. This step is important for applications in computer vision which involve quantitative measurements. The objective of this mapping is to estimate the internal parameters of the camera, including the effective focal length, one-pixel width on the image plane, image distortion center, and distortion coefficients. The number of parameters to be calibrated is reduced by using a calibration pattern with equally spaced dots and assuming a pin-hole model camera behavior for the image center, thus assuming negligible distortion at the image distortion center. Our method employs a non-finear transformation between points in the world coordinate system and their corresponding location on the image plane. A Lagrangian minimization method is used to determine the coefficients of the transformation. The validity and effectiveness of our calibration and distortion correction procedure are confirmed by application of this procedure on real images. Copyright © 1996 Pattern Recognition Society. A Simple Calibration Procedure for Fish-Eye (High-Distortion) Lens Camera
This paper presents a new algorithm for the geometric camera calibration of a fish-eye lens (a high distortion lens) mounted on a CCD TV camera. The algorithm determines a mapping between points in the world coordinate system and their corresponding point locations in the image plane. The parameters to be calibrated are effective focal length, one-pixel width on the image plane, image distortio...
متن کاملExperiment on Parameter Selection of Image Distortion Model
Most of current camera calibration methods for a non-metric digital camera adopt polynomials of image coordinates composed of terms representing the correction to the principal distance, the offsets of the principal point, the radial lens distortion, and the decentering lens distortion of the target camera as the image distortion model. However, there is no standard procedure to evaluate approp...
متن کاملEstimation of omnidirectional camera model from epipolar geometry
We generalize the method of simultaneous linear estimation of multiple view geometry and lens distortion, introduced by Fitzgibbon at CVPR 2001 [6], to an omnidirectional (angle of view larger than 180) camera. The perspective camera is replaced by a linear camera with a spherical retina and a non-linear mapping of the sphere into the image plane. Unlike the previous distortion-based models, th...
متن کاملAutomatic calibration of fish-eye cameras from automotive video sequences
A technique for calibrating a lens in the automotive environment to compensate for radial distortion introduced by wide-angle or fish-eye lenses, without the need for a dedicated calibration environment, is proposed. At present, car manufacturers are endeavouring to introduce systems that provide the driver with views of the car’s surroundings that are not directly visible (blind zones). To ach...
متن کاملAutomatic Camera Calibration Applied to Medical Endoscopy
We present a calibration algorithm for cameras with lens distortion, that uses a single image of a planar chessboard pattern acquired in general position. The radial distortion is modeled using the first order division model, and the method provides a closed form estimation of the intrinsic parameters and distortion coefficient. The experimental evaluation shows that the calibration accuracy is...
